Hey guys. So this one is probably the least exciting building I did this vacation, but I still had a blast, and there was more than one surprise in store for the day. On a NOT so jubilant note, one of those surprises was later finding out that the plant had been shut down for having something like 190 times the allowable level of TCE (Trichloroethylene), which is a chemical solvent that depresses the central nervous system.. but I guess we didn't pass out and suffocate, so what the hey. I guess these are things I should check out before going to some random factory
Anyways, the factory was a Peerless Tube Co. manufacturing site that produced cylindrical tubes for aerosol cans. The company itself was founded in 1904 and moved to Bloomfield in 1912. The factory was obviously newer, I don't have a date on its construction though. It was closed sometime in the 90's for heavily contaminating the surrounding soil, which included a public school and a park.. Now local activists have been lobbying to have the place torn down and the soil decontaminated. Looks like the storage place across the street has been using it to dump their old junk.
Cool place to explore besides the nerve-agents and the barrel of sulfric acid I almost tripped over
1.Factory Floor, check out the wood brick floor
2. Skis, a lot of them
3. Junk from the storage
4.Thats some fantastic accounting
5. Silly picture if you ask me
6. Funky Floor
7. Chemical Hood in the Lab
8. Upstairs
9. And an arty shot of course
