I said i would return to the big tunnel for better photos since my first ones were shit .
so we start of at the big New Bridge and walk downstream to the culvert where the river passes under the gate and into the 6 foot tunnel
but the middles always open for debris to pass through and of coursre for me and other billy big balls to enter the tunnel.

the entrance

close up of tunnel a bit awkward to enter becaude of the water so i threw a plank of wood to walk along since the water was low in winter or wet condititons it would not be as possable withour wellies.
note the size when comparing it to the wine bottle on the bottom right.

I Came out of the round tunnel section into the sump hole chamber which turns to a box culvert which is actully a bridge before the upstream side was culverted i can still remember this being open to the air in times long gone by but this it now under subterranean Dungiven.
1533845287992.jpg

The outlet but a bad picture of it. becaue its all sheltered in trees and my tempory phone is crap
1533845445014.jpg

the sump hole itself see the ater getting very deep.
1533845519810.jpg

the sump hole and the water ripples
1533845610092.jpg

On top of the former bridge looking from the road down to the outlet in summer cannot see the river
1533845733152.jpg

and here it is around christmas time where you can actually see the river

THANKS FOR LOOKING.

The River now enters a small open section before going under is i refear to my great grannies bridge which is culverted on the upstream side of the old bridge in a 1970s brick culvert
note some of these pictures are from last year and early this year.
1534346349192.jpg

water exits the box culvert or as i refair to it as the sandstone bridge.

Here is the end of the full culvert from the entrance at the Victorian Newbridge to the Medieval Pellipar Bridge or as i refeir to as my great grannies bridge
since she just lives adjacent to the ancient bridge.
