Pendle Rise is a shopping centre in Nelson, Lancashire. It opened in 1967 as the Arndale Centre (opened by then-Prime Minister Harold Wilson) and served as a key town-centre hub for decades, featuring local Nelson-themed elements like a compass mosaic and bust that are being preserved.
It declined over time with rising vacancies and an outdated 1960s design. Pendle Borough Council acquired it in 2024 (using Town Deal funding) as part of regeneration plans. The centre closed in late 2025 and is being demolished in 2026 to make way for a smaller modern retail complex (supermarket, nine units, parking, and landscaping), expected to complete around 2027.
