History - Pendleton House was originally built in 1936 during the great depression as a public assistance office. The poor and unemployed would be subject to a stringent ‘means test’ to ascertain whether they qualified for welfare assistance. When Pendleton Town hall was demolished in 1970 the Coroners Court was relocated to Pendleton House where it remained until 2005. The building was then occupied by Salford Council and the NHS until it was vacated in 2011.

Explore - This has been done to death but we were in the area so thought we'd have a look. Access is easy but it's completely trashed for the most part. There's some decent decay and a few half decent original features amongst the carnage. Shame as it looks like it would have been a nice building.

It's a massive wreck, a real shame. i didn't bother photographing most of it it was that bad. Its not decay either it's mostly just vandalism.

Did you see the holes in the floors, almost in every room? I wondered what someone would have been digging for, as it seemed an awful lot of effort to go to?

Yeah, very weird. Seemed like there was one in every ground floor room., possibly metal thieves
