This one wasn't as interesting as I hoped unfortunately, as I caught it a little too late in the redevelopment stage so all the fun was stripped out. Funnily enough their cameras and fancy security system were following my movement the entire time and a police station was a two minute walk away yet nobody bothered to turn up.

History

Pendower Hall was built for Victorian banker J W Pearce in 1867. The building has served the local community as a hospital in the First World War, a school in the 1920s and then as a teacher’s centre before closing in 2002. The building is currently being refurbished into a commercial venue. Archaeological works on the gardens discovered a Roman fort, which used to be garrisoned by a part-mounted unit from Upper Germany and later by cavalry from northern Spain.

I wish I'd had a look now, a bit stripped but some nice features still.

the police station 2 mins away has been empty for 2yrs, the hospital across the road is currently being demo'd.

That’s weird, I saw some police cars lined up there, maybe just used as a depot? ‘Newcastle West Police Office’
