I got an email today asking for $399 and my pictures on here have gone. I haven't posted photobucket images on a forum for a few years so I don't think the few threads I have put on here have exceeded the number of views allowed as they claim.

$400 is a lot of money! They are being greedy and I think it will backfire on them. I would rather spend some time sorting out Flickr and getting a mod to change the links in my few threads.

I think photobucket are doing this in the hope that people who make their living from selling online and use photobucket will pay to get their website/etsy/ebay/etc up and running again quickly.

It is such a shame that threads on here will be lost.

I fear that photobucket will take any offers of $400 and go to the wall or morph into something else within months, its just too bold a move to make.
I had an email from them about a fortnight ago because my annual fees were due with their new terms but didnt read past the stupid price rise and only recently learned what 3rd party hosting was.

When I rehosted my photos a while back I had to edit all my reports and it was a PITA. To anyone doing the same, you should know that one post on the forum can only contain a certain number of characters and it counts every character of photo URLs, so if your new host has longer URLs for the photo links you may need to shorten them with https://tinyurl.com/ or https://goo.gl/

I'm confused! I use the photofuckit app on my phone to upload onto here and I've never had to pay anything! I've just checked and my links to pics still work as well. Does this only effect people who pay for premium stuff?
