Yet another from the summer, one that was a definite why didn't we do this place sooner sites. We arrived at 8am on a saturday morning to find the place littered with demo contractors running around ready to start a days distruction of history. A good portion of the site had already gone so we decided we would head off and do another site and return once it had quietened down to ensure we didn't miss it. Luckily the admin and main hall remained so that was the focus of my pics.
Some history of the hospital can be found here: stanleyhistoryonline
poor external, a drive by shot as seccas rumbled my exit so had to do a sharp one
inside reception of entrance close to the original admin block
coridoors, coridoors
Original entrance to admin block
Admin clock tower, no matter how much i tried i could not find the staircase up to it. I assume it had been boarded over during modernisation.
Original ceiling exposed after the modern suspended had been stripped
Next was onto the main hall.
