A once important mill in Dundee's flax and jute industry, now a crumbling, overgrown shell. A fire lit by teenagers in September 2011 destroyed the badly rotted roof and sent up a pall of black smoke that could be seen for miles around.

The mill was built for James Donald who lived at Pitalpin House which overlooks the south elevation of the main mill building. The site subsequently moved into the ownership of AA Milne, Spalding and Valentine, and finally to William Halley and Sons. Throughout this time, manufacture changed from flax to jute and then rayon, and the works finally closed in 1988.

Though I dismissed the Warning: Guard Dogs sign I got the fright of my life 20 minutes into the explore when I heard a frantic scuffling sound. Terror turned to relief when it became clear a pigeon to blame.
