Don't think anyone has done this, looks like it could be a nice one perhaps, work might start soon...

Bid to use Islington cinema site as a place of worship - News - Islington Gazette

And my favourite quote from the article...

“I hope they aren’t some cult – the last thing I want is some religious sect across the road from me. Absolutely not. And if they do get hundreds of people coming to the church, they’d best not take up all the parking spaces.â€￾

Feck knows where these happy clappy God lovers find the money for these places in order for them to outbid developers.
I guess the lefty councils give special dispensations for places of worship?

Worshiping god is a lucrative business especially if you set yourself up as happy clappy. Theres definitely a Kenny Craig element to them.

A lot of the time they buy the properties and then try to force through planning permission changes (see http://cinema4crystalpalace.org.uk/...ange-of-use-of-25-church-road-please-act-now/). If they can't get it through they'll sell, make a profit on the rising value of the property and move on to the next one.

Its not been touched, the 'church' just moved in and used it as is. They wont give them permission to do what they want to do.
