I'll the him retell the story of the day
Myself and Xan Asmodi drove past this old bird on saturday on our way to check out a culvert in Skelmersdale, and decided to stop and check it out on our way home and we were glad that we did, I have failed here before with sephiroth so I was beside myself to find myself standing inside the building, but excitement soon turned to disapointment when we discovered that some tossers had set the place on fire at some point and the reception and gorgeous art deco doors had been smoke and fire damaged.
having said all that it was still a bit special for me even though it was trashed beyond belief.
the fun didnt end with the explore because as we were leaving we were rumbled by a doogooding member of the public who too be fair was probably worried about it being set on fire again but it was also comical to see Xans larger than life frame chuck itself kamikazi style through a tiny little window and the guy who was calling the police disapeared quickly when the duct tape fell out of the haversack
Located in the Kirkdale district to the North of Liverpool. The Princess Cinema opened on 11th May 1931 with Owen Wares in ""Loose Ends". It was on a triangular site at the corner of Selwyn Street and Brewster Street.
Seating was provided for 760 in the stalls and 700 in the circle. The proscenium was only 28 feet wide, as it was at the corner-apex ‘pointed’ end of the building. It was independently operated until 1958, when it was taken over by the Essoldo Cinemas chain, based in Newcastle.
When Cinemascope was installed, the screen was no wider than before, and the top & bottom masking on the screen was moved to give a ‘wide-screen’ presentation. The Princess Cinema was closed on 22nd October 1966 with James Coburn in "Our Man Flint" and Kent Taylor in "The Day Mars Invaded Earth". It was converted into an independent bingo club, which closed in 2000.
The building then stood empty and unused, and in October 2009, plans were passed to demolish and build housing and shops on the site.

These days, the place is a shadow of its former self. No work has taken place on the demo, just left in limbo. The only bit of change is that the place has been torched.

The auditorium has been flattened, but at least the ceiling hasn't been covered up with a suspended one.
