I planed this visit earlier on in the week and today was the day, Me and a work mate (non member) bunked off a few hours early from work as this was 30 minutes away from where we were.This base is HUGE and everything is accessible as it is now used for airsoft, It opened around 1917, and later ran by the US airforce, closing in 1994. Upon opening, there were no permanent buildings at the airfield. By the summer of 1918 a number of huts and five hangars were in place. It was during this time that the field was renamed Upwood. There is tons of history on wikipedia if you want to know a bit more about this base
