RAE Bedford was a research site of the Royal Aircraft Establishment between 1946 and 1994. It was located near the village of Thurleigh, north of the town of Bedford in England and was the site of aircraft experimental development work.

The site comprises of several wind tunnels 2 are still in use and 2 are somewhat derelict the 3x3 is what is shown here, we tried for the 8x8 with no luck visited with MD and Goldie87 also thanks to The Amateur Wanderer for a little help

I was there a few days back and it's all still there. The other site (power station and turbine hall) seems to have been well sealed up now.

Having been fortunate enough to visit here recently it's nice to see it again. You have a lovely set of pics, the observation room especially. Shame you couldn't get in to the 8x8 building. It was only a matter of time before they had it sealed though.
