MISSION OBJECTIVE:
PERMISSION VISIT

TARGET:
RAF NEATISHEAD, BUNKER & RADAR

TARGET DETAILS:
RRH NEATISHEAD IS A ROYAL AIR FORCE REMOTE RADAR HEAD IN THE ENGLISH COUNTY OF NORFOLK, EAST ANGLIA ESTABLISHED DURING THE SECOND WORLD WAR. IT CONSISTS OF THE MAIN TECHNICAL SITE, AND A NUMBER OF REMOTE, AND SOMETIMES UNMANNED SITES.
THE STATION MOTTO IS CAELUM TUEMUR, MEANING "WE WATCH OVER THE SKY".
THE PRIMARY FUNCTION OF NEATISHEAD WAS AS A "CONTROL AND REPORTING CENTRE" (CRC) FOR THE SOUTH OF THE UNITED KINGDOM; IT FORMS A PART OF THE UK'S AIR DEFENCES - NAMELY THE UK "AIR SURVEILLANCE AND CONTROL SYSTEM" (ASACS), AND IS PART OF THE LARGER NATO AIR DEFENCE. IT USES RADAR, GROUND-TO-AIR RADIO AND DIGITALLY ENCRYPTED DATA LINKS.
EQUIPMENT PREVIOUSLY LOCATED IN THE BASE INCLUDED: TYPE 7 RADAR, FPS 6 HEIGHT FINDING RADAR, TYPE 80 "GREEN GARLIC" RADAR, TYPE 84 RADAR, TYPE 85 "BLUE YEOMAN" RADAR AND A R15 RADAR.
ON 16 FEBRUARY 1966 A FIRE BROKE OUT IN THE BUNKER, STATION FIRE TEAMS WERE UNSUCCESSFUL IN PUTTING THE FIRE OUT AND SO CIVILIAN FIRE CREWS WERE CALLED. 3 CIVILIAN FIREFIGHTERS LOST THEIR LIVES. LATER THAT YEAR LAC CHEESEMAN WAS SENTENCED TO 7 YEARS FOR STARTING THE FIRE AND CAUSING THE DEATHS.
IN APRIL 2004 THE DECISION WAS TAKEN TO SUBSTANTIALLY REDUCE ACTIVITIES AT NEATISHEAD, AND BY 2006, THE BASE HAD BEEN DOWNGRADED TO REMOTE RADAR HEAD (RRH) STATUS.

OBJECTIVES:
RADAR (T84)
BUNKER

MISSION DETAILS:
WE BOOKED THE PERMISSION VISIT, AIMING TO CRACK ALL OF THE MILITARY SITES IN THE SOUTH EAST (THERES NOT MUCH ELSE), THIS WAS A FAVOURITE - PROBABLY THE BEST EXAMPLE OF A COLD WAR BUNKER IN THIS COUNTRY, GAVE IT AN 8, AS THERE ISN'T MUCH DECAY. IN USE TILL AFTER 911, THERE HAVE BEEN NON PERMISSION REPORTS AND AMUSINGLY WE WERE SHOWN THE ACCESS POINT AFTER A REPORT HAD BEEN PUBLISHED ONLINE - DOH, MAYBE KEEP IT A SECRET NEXT TIME ;-)! ITS EASY TO BOOK VISITS AND THE MUSEAM NEARBY HAS SOME VINTAGE PANELS IN WORKING CONDITION, NO SHOTS OF THOSE ALTHOUGH WE DID GET A SNEAKY TOUR BEFORE IT OPENED. WE WERE ALLOWED UP THE T84 RADAR AND GOT SOME NICE FOOTAGE OF THAT TOO WHICH WAS A NICE BONUS. AN AWESOME EXPLORE, EVEN IF IT WAS PERMISSION...

STATE OF DECAY: 8

DOCUMENTATION:
T84 RADAR:

There are quite a few blurry ones.

A-Team style write up aside, it looks interesting.

cheers,

just a different way of telling the report, find it hilarious people react so much to it, to be honest its pretty childish but each to their own I guess.

We couldn't use the tripod, the group we were with was large, so we had to wait to get the shots we did, fairly pleased for non tripod photos.

Thanks

State of Report: Dumb

LOL Cheers for that,

everyone is entitled to their opinion - but is it really a big issue telling the report in a different style? Surely its a good thing to have variety, and why so serious and black and white all the time. I get that its different and for people doing this a while its an easy thing to ridicule, because its not up to your standard, its abnormal - the normal reactions to such a thing.

Man, life is too short, urbex for us is as much about having a laugh and a joke and not taking yourself too seriously while ending up with a decent video and some snaps and some awesome memories...

It's always worth testing the water with stuff I guess, but you need to know when to knock it on the head too.

All part of the learning curve! Which is something I'll admit I know all too well!

Do silly things and people will take the piss.

Do serious things and people get bored.

I guess its probably a case of the way I saw it is not the way it has come across - its not meant to be serious or a big thing, just a different take on it - but yeh I guess if its gonna wind people up there little point to it going forward...

grateful for the feedback, dont want to sound like an arse...

I think you take it a bit too seriously. The problem is these reports doesn't really come across as something written in jest. They comes across as someone thinking it actually makes for a good report to write dumb shit, use a silly font etc. Luckily we manage to avoid that kind of crap on this forum because we're free to tell people when we think what they are doing is stupid.
