RAF Sculthorpe opened in 1943 and was in regular use right up to 1992 when the USAF withdrew and the base closed. The housing, mostly bungalows, built for USAF personnel was sold in the mid 90s and refurbished. It is now a village known at Wicken Green. The accommodation blocks still stand in the middle of the domestic site, most are pretty far gone now and the pikeys have well and truly stripped it, although still interesting for a walk around. The control tower is derelict and still stands, although the airfield is still live and used for training by planes from Marham. Would have had a look had there not been some squaddies next to it unloading a low loader!

Thanks for looking.
