My first post on here ... so hello :)

Got a chance (with permission) to visit the main airfield/control tower earlier this month with an american friend who used to work on the base, first time he'd been back for years.

Upon arrival we headed straight to the control tower/fire station to start with, scaring off all the crows. This was the main area I wanted to see but I abit gutted there weren't an easy way inside, maybe next time ...

On exit to the main airfield we had a quick trawl round some out-buildings ... which i assume had something to do with the bases water supply

would hazard a guess these pics are for fuel of some sort. looks like a flame arrestor in-line there , the flanges are jumpered (prevents static electricity build up) & what appears to be conservation vents up on the vert. pipes. & a "flame proof junction box" sorta points that way....:p

Ah thanks mate, the thought that they might of been for fuel never even crossed my mind :thumb

The supply comes from the depot at Little Massingham. The Massingham depot, in turn is connected to the large storage depot at Thetford.
All the RAF Stations were connected via pipeline.
