Short History:
Hidden away in trees and heavy undergrowth at Kings Hill is this WW2 Bofors AA tower, built to aid in the defence of RAF West Malling.Only 10 of this type are known nationally - built of brick, it is approximately 60-70 feet high and consists of a pair of rectangular brick towers, each capped with an overhanging concrete platform, the gun platform being on the eastern tower. The narrow spacing betwen the towers was to prevent the delicate observational equipment mounted on one tower from being affected by vibration from the gun on the other.
The Explore:
Visited with @Minor ,@Dora Grew Up and non member. i liked this one, finding a way in was very easy, despite this site being surrounded by a 15ft high fence and the entrance to the tower having 10ft metal sheets covering them within minutes we were in. just a few pics from here as it was a quick visit and to be fair not really a lot here.
onto the pics
thanks for looking
