Had a little stroll around here one morning after an intended explore at a nearby location didn't go to plan... luckily there are quite a few sites in the area such as this one, so the long drive from London wasn't wasted :-)

Most of what there is to see has been well documented and to be honest most of the buildings are pretty trashed - not much remains apart from the walls, floor and the occasional stray bit of furniture, although I did find evidence of a Christmas party which was unexpected. There are good views from the clock tower, and the greenhouse was worth a look. Also checked out the chapel next door which has been totally stripped right down to the floorboards. There's some limited evidence of building work but the site appears pretty much abandoned for now.

A bit of history:

Rauceby Hospital (originally called Kesteven County Asylum) was a mental institution in the parish of Quarrington, Lincolnshire. The building was designed by G T Hine and construction commenced in 1897, with the facility completed and opened in 1902. In 1940 the building was taken over by the Royal Air Force, renamed as No.4 RAF Hospital Rauceby it became a crash and burns unit under the control of nearby RAF Cranwell. After changing hands and names several times the main hospital building was closed in 1998 and abandoned for several years. From 2004 parts of the site underwent redevelopment to convert it into private housing.

Some very nice shots there!

Interesting to see the chapel looking so tidy, looks like someone has been busy sprucing it up!

It's a strange site... seems like it's a quite an upmarket area now, with all the new period-style property development going on around it. I didn't have too much problem finding the dilapidated and very out-of-place looking buildings at the centre of it though. Right next to this twee little park they stick out like a sore thumb!

You've got some great pictures there! I've been a few times and love the place but do generally agree with people saying it hasn't got much to offer anymore. The clock tower shots are well worth battling guard pigeons and cramped spaces for!
