The History of Clophill
The church sits on the outskirts of Clophill, originally built in the 10th century then rebuilt around 1350, the large windows were added around 1450 then in 1819 improvements were made by adding the new east end to the chancel. In the 1840's a new church was built in the centre of Clophill due to the growing village therefore the old one being abandoned

The original lead roof was stolen in the mid 20th century which resulted in the church falling into ruin, it then became a site for vandalism, the site was then rejuvenated with the help of Historic England and the Clophill Heritage Trust, eco lodges were built near the church to help sustain and maintain the building. Plenty of additional information is available online including dark magic myths

Exploring Clophill
Parking is on the road with a nice walk up the lane, eco lodges are on the left with the church being accessed to the green on the right, it is open to the public, the site was visited early in the morning with the following photographs being taken
