If you haven't seen my intro.....here's some background: I'm a 66 year old Welsh guy in Spain...... and I do abandoned railway station trips in Spain by motorcycle.
But I don't just do abandoned stations, I also do abandoned villages, factories, mines, sanitoriums, power stations etc.....literally anything that's unusual. And always alone! I've found that when you have abandoned railways stations......there's usually abandoned industries nearby as well.
So what I do is a bizarre hybrid of Urbex, Dark Tourism, and Adventure Motorcycling that I've christened Dark Motorcycling! I don't break into locked places or anything like that.....because there's no need to. Everything's open here, and everywhere I visit is in remote rural locations. So no secrecy needed in my case!
Yes I know that people my age should be in an Old Folks Home or playing bowls in the park.......but I ain't your average OAP. And I never intend to be!
That being said......what I do is slightly different to what you guys do, because to me the actual ride to these places is what it's all about. But I don't like aimless rides with no purpose.....I need an endpoint, a challenge, and something unusual at the end of it. So here's something to give you an idea of Dark Motorcycling!
Last weekend I visited Los Canos Loader in Almeria province. It wasn't actually a passenger station, but it was a very important part of the old abandoned (since 1984) railway network that crosses from Granada into Almeria. This was the loading station for iron ore from the nearby mines.
But by accident I found an abandoned factory nearby......and totally open. It was access all areas including the upper floors........so check out the vid as well.
So there you have it.........hope you find it interesting. It's certainly going to be very different to Britain.
