Built (apparently with forced labour from political prisoners) originally as a hideaway lodge for President Tito and other high ranking officials in the Yugoslavian Army this lodge is an interesting place to visit. Although the nearby Plitvice lakes draw most of the tourists to this area this site is pretty hidden away at the end of a long track through the woods.

The building itself is big, apparently originally containing a cinema room, a single lane bowling alley as well as the facilities required to host numerous dignitaries. It must have been breathtaking when in use and some of the original marble flooring and stairs as well as the wooden parquet floor still remains. Sections of the floor are rotting and collapsing in places and most of the original furnishings are long gone, but the structure of the building is solid on the whole.

Access is pretty easy - just walk in through the massive oak door!

Good man. Did you find the tunnel from the villa to the guardhouses disguised as cottages ?
