Ridge Lea was one of those last minute stop offs after our trip to Manchester. It's been a popular explore since it's closure in 2016 and unfortunately with the local arsonists as well.

It was opened as a private villa for the local Lancaster Moor Hospital in 1916, a more comfortable experience for the paying customer. It stopped receiving patients in 2013 and closed soon after.
Nearby HMP Lancaster Farms opened in 1993 as a youth offender's institute before later converting to a general category C prison.

The local council recently blocked a demolition request and a conservation area has been set up because of a local bat population. So hopefully not the last we'll see of the place.

They're also not too happy that we're turning up

It's completely wrecked, oddly there was no real animal life present when we visited. Multiple rooms have been completely burned out and there was zero security at the time. Most of the windows have been smashed in at some point, as well as the damaged roof allowing in all of the weather. As can been seen from above, it's quite a large site and I didn't manage to find any of the wings unaccessible once inside. You've got everything ranging from games rooms to more secure housing units.

Nice pics. The first drone shot really shows how the place has gone downhill.

I'm not a fan of drone pics for the sake of them, but as Ferox says that drone pic really shows the layout and the decline. Perfect.
It's been shut only 8 years and it's now beyond saving? Terrible, what a waste. Those roof slates look very good, wish I had them on my roof.
Great report
