The history of the RNAD depot at Milford Haven has been covered a few times before but in short it opened in 1939 and was used as a depot for naval mines and other munitions and stores.
The site closed down in 1991 with the remaining staff being transfered to RNAD Trecwn. It was used for some time as an indoor arena and a banked track was installed in one of the larger buildings.
Got to visit while I was back home visiting the folks for Easter.
Welcome sign
Looking across the Cleddau towards the Chevron Pembroke refinery from underneath the swinging rail bridge
This is where the standard gauge railway tracks entered the site.
View south east down the railway tracks
Safe in the guard house
View north west towards the factory units
Door to no.1 transformer
This door is about the only thing in this transformer block that isn't
trashed.
Lamp post on the jetty
Looking back at the jetty from the west
Looking back along one of the seaward tunnels
Looking north west across the upper reservoir
Dam seperating upper and lower reservoirs
Looking back along the dam
Overflow from the lower dam
This feeds a system of concrete channels that runs down from the reservoirs in the woods to the main set of tunnels before disappearing underground.
Water channel
Tunnel door
Obligatory glow in the dark paint shot
Had to have a go at this after seeing the other reports!
Looking back along one of the tunnels on the main part of the site
Overgrown staples
Plate outside tunnel
Tunnel piled with rubble
Fans in the factory buildings
Direction sign on winch gear
