So today, I decided to do my first ever explore as I was on holiday. Not wanting to be too adventurous on my first one (or indeed even slightly adventurous at all!), I went to the ROC Post near Holmfirth... so apologies, I guess everyone's been there, done that... and saw a hell of a lot more than I did!

I wandered up towards the post and took a few photos, crawled through the gate and the hatch was held down by a couple of blocks. Really windy day and I felt anxious everytime a car drove past on the road.. so if nothing else today, I discovered I'm a bit of a freak!

If cars going past made me anxious, you can imagine how I felt when I looked down the ladder! Who would've thought they went that deep (okay, it's not a canyon.. but I expected, I dunno, a 6 foot drop or something)... anyway I grew a pair finally (figuratively not literally) and climbed down.... at this point it should be noted that I had forgotten to bring a torch! Least I remembered the camera I guess...

..... and there endeth the excitement for one day... it's empty now! Lots of water, damp walls, one table/counter on the floor.... so err yeah I popped my cherry on an empty, flooded room...

Some images... (not a clue how to put them in order... surprised I worked this much out to be honest!) also sorry about quality... they were really large and I cut corners on the resizing!

Well done on getting out there and doing it, nothing like a good ROC post!

The watchtower on the building in the background of the sheep photo is actually constructed from a piece of the wreckage of the 1969 Emley Moor Mast collapse.

One fallen cylindrical section was in fine enough fettle that the owner of the lake was moved enough to find an inventive way of recycling it.

I'd love to say that this was the exact reason I took the photo...... but alas I just thought the sheep looked shifty! Thanks for that, I wasn't aware that Emley Moor Mast had collapsed in the past, learning every day :)

Good views, IIRC correctly this used to be a good one :( (OK they all used to be good but you know what I mean). It is hard to find a good one these days.
