My Dad was in the ROC and stayed in until it was disbanded, I spent many an evening down the post at Middle Rasen, I heard about this post in North Lincs and as I was in the area decided to pop by.

I wasn't really prepared (no torch) as I just passed by to see how accessible it was, anyway wandered up & it was open, decided to pop down, the hatch mechanism was in great condition and worked perfect, locking in place (someone is clearly keeping it in good condition), the shaft seemed tighter than I remember, it was a squeeze getting down.

Not much left inside and I was alone so got a bit spooked and didnt want to hang around too long as my car was very visible and farmers always know whats going on.. so I made it quick. Might go back another time better prepared & find somewhere less conspicuous to park my car.

Lol if you don't know who#s in your ROC bunker you have serious problems. Was it normal to have to sign in?
GPO/BT plus others would routinely collect keys from Group HQ’s (or in some instances they held keys in order to carry out maintenance. Posts weren’t manned 24/7 so there wasn’t always someone there and it was important to know who had been and what they’d done.
