~Greetings from the other-side of the Pond~
This building is right off the main road that runs along the Delaware River / Delaware & Raritan Canal on the west side of NJ. No history, tried to dig up some, no office, paperwork, signage. Doesn't show (labeled) on any maps ,current or old. Nothing on any of the historical sites, and I took a pass on asking the "neighbors"... one side, in the old quarry, is the Mercer County Police Firing Range. Other side, is the Mercer County Correctional Facility. Apparently, authorities are used to people parking and taking pictures. There is no fence, nor any "keep out" or "no trespassing" signs, so it was a walk in.

First feature was the truck loading bay
889973

The loading gates.
889974

889975

Lower floor electrical gear.
889976

Lookin up at a large flywheel.
889977

This is where the quarry trucks would back up and dump boulders onto the feed hopper.
889978

First clue as to what the place was for - grizzly bars in the feed hopper.
889979

This was the main event, down the throat of the Jaw Crusher.
889980

Mechanical side of the crusher. Flywheel seen from below is off to the left, along with this one. Drive sheave outboard the flywheel.
889981

Electrical Motor with a 10 grove sheave to drive the crusher shaft. The pile under the sheave are the drive belts, take an auto fan belt, go up 4-5x's , that's those belts.
889982

Next few are random electrical gear.
889983

889984

889985

Interior of one of the storage bins, located above those loading gates.
889986

This building was all wood framed. Many, many, close-up details were omitted trying to get this report down to the recommended size ... Hey, I tried !!!
889987

Upper separation floor - vibrating screens arraigned so that the feed would cascade down them, each screen taking a "cut" from small to bigger gravel.
889988

Shot from the open double doors seen in first couple of pics. Canal's at top, road in middle & pavement up to the building. Was a car there when I pulled up & this is a different car.
Veritable parking lot right there. (no valet service ...Meh).
889989

Screens on other side of feed.

Now this is somewhat interesting. Was going to climb up the ladder to photograph the skip bucket hoist drum. Notice the fourth rung up... Broken ???
889991

Skip bucket hoist drum.
889992

Nope...SAWED in two. First was very pissed that someone would saw a rung to hurt people. BUT on closer inspection ....
889993

Closer inspection ....
889994

Sawed completely through. And said a silent "Thank You" to whoever sawed that rung. Platform was shored up, boards were rotten (might not have seen it from top side) and holes all over it !!!

So, mission accomplished, saddled up Blue & rode off into the early afternoon sun, just a'following were my front tire was heading.

And so ... au revoir ,
James

nice stuff, that wheel with the belts on it is actually a eccentric shaker mechanism, those two cams move on ether side of the shaft to shake the hopper, a bucket chain elevator can also be seen in the backgound of that close up shot

Yup, the crusher shaft has an eccentric that's linked to the angled "jaw'" which moves back and forth to crack the rocks into smaller pieces. Bigger spacing between plates at top, to take the large rocks and as they get cracked, pieces move down the angled space to get broken into smaller pieces till they are small enough to exit out of the bottom of the crusher. Here's a cross section. not a lot of motion or vibration, but it produces a tremendous amount of force for that little movement .
Got a few of the bucket elevator, but not included to keep the pic count down. Took over 200 shots.
