Visited with Dweeb, Fur:Q, Speed and Raddog.

For some reason, Speed thought this was north of Lancaster which just proves that Lancaster is misleading area of mystery because I thought The Duke was up there somewhere too...although that misunderstanding is slightly more understandable. Anyway, this hopsital wasn't very far away from where we were playing around the mills so we thought we'd check it out.

It's quite modern inside and hasn't escaped the attention of the local pikeys but it made for a nice afternoon either way. On the way out, we jumped on a big shampoo bottle to see it shoot blue gunge across the path. I tried to do the same with a discarded tube of toothpaste but it wasn't meant to be:(

A news article from 2006 about whether the rest of the hospital was going to close. The men at the top denied it as they always do but we took the on The Jeremy Kyle Show and lie detector results revealed "They were liars!!!!"

THE last inpatient ward at Rossendale General looks set to close, increasing fears for the future of the hospital.

The threat to ward five, a facility for elderly patients with mental health problems, comes hot on the heels of the closure of ward 11, the adult acute psychiatric unit, in December.

Just months before that, at the end of July, ward one, the pioneering nurse-led rehabilitation unit, was closed.

And in December 2004 ward six, also for elderly patients with mental health problems, closed for emergency asbestos and fire safety work, never to reopen.

Patients from ward five may be transferred to Burnley.

The Free Press was made aware of the latest closure plans after we received a copy of a letter to Lancashire Care NHS Trust from officials at the Royal College of Nursing and Unison.

The letter expresses disappointment at the decision to close the ward in April and complains of lack of consultation with staff and the public.

Lancashire Care Trust, responsible for mental health services, this week refused to confirm the closure plans.

But a trust spokesman said: 'As far as ward five is concerned, we are still consulting with staff about the future of service provision at Rossendale Hospital.
