Visited with chiroptera and Teapot
Originally the Midlothian and Peebles District Asylum, the hospital dates back to the 1870s and closed in 2010.
My apologies if this is a rather eclectic collection of pictures, I wasn't originally intending to write a report.
[1] Inside Ward 1
[2] Their cleanup wasn't exactly thorough...
[3] Though they did take the time to stack all their mattresses here
[4] Love Songs
[5] We saw this rather ominous piece of kit and couldn't resist. No Teapots were harmed in the making of this report.
[6] Corridor leading away from ward 1
[7] I did find the view of the roof rather tempting...
[8] The exterior was much more ominous than the interior. I've been in worse...
[9]
[10] Found this in the staff room
[11] We were very aware of the presence of security in the building so unfortunately this was a silent recital.
[12]
[13] The Gymnasium
[14] A similar area upstairs, this time with a stage
[15] Backstage. We also found an empty gin bottle elsewhere in the building.
[16]
[17] Not being well versed in mop terminology, this struck us as rather amusing.
[18] The Chaplaincy was fairly well stocked
[19] A very low tech approach to emergency exits
[20] Kitchen...
[21] Complete with blast chiller
[22]
[23] Underground, really provides a calming atmosphere...
[24]
[25]
[26] Given how recently it shut, parts of the building are in pretty poor state
[27]
Thanks for looking. This is my first report and I'd really appreciate any constructive criticism.
