History
Known originally as the Midlothian and Peebles District Asylum, it opened in 1874 to serve the landward parishes of Edinburgh and Midlothian. It became known as Rosslynlee because of its proximity to the local railway station. In 1948 it became part of the Board of Management of the Royal Edinburgh Asylum and Associated Hospitals under the South Eastern Hospital Board.
Plans for the building
A series of planning applications were submitted to Midlothian Council during December 2017 and January 2018. Oakridge and its team are now working closely with the council and local community to achieve permission for the planned development.
In addition to saving the historic building, Oakridge’s plans will generate short and long term employment opportunities in the area, improve local infrastructure and create additional housing in line with the council’s Local Plan
So anyone wanting to visit I would make it soon not sure how long it's gunna be abandoned for.
Our explore
So had our first trip up to Scotland to see what we could find and we come across Rosslynlee hospital.
This was not an easy one to get into it was sealed up tight inside and out, we managed to get in after about and hour of walking around and looking about and trying to figure out how to get in because there was fences all round it with burglar grease. We still ended up covered in the stuff

It did say all over CCTV and once we seen these cameras we realised that they don't look like there working at all half of them pointing in the complete wrong direction so we assumed nothing was going on but once we where in we could here a small beeping coming from one of the upper floors when near the kitchen area and we waited a while to listen we did here some sort of movement above us aswell as the beeping so we quitely disappeared from that area. Other then this we didn't hear anything.
Anyways once we managed to get it was worth it because to see all the different rooms and floors that we could get into it was mad.
We didn't manage to get round the full place unfortunately but did get round alot of it just happy we have been able to before any building of the place starts or whatever they have planned to do with it.
Much nicer to know that they are planning on turning it into something and not just demolishing the full place like other hospitals we have visited.
