Ruston & Hornsby, later known as Ruston, was an industrial equipment manufacturer in Lincoln, England, the company's history going back to 1840. The company is best known as a manufacturer of narrow and standard gauge diesel locomotives and also of steam shovels. Other products included cars, steam locomotives and a range of internal combustion engines, and later gas turbines. The company is now part of the Siemens group of Germany.

The above link will give much more history.
I have had this place on the to do list for a while, finally got to see it and tbh i was a bit disappointed the site was very big but has been trashed and gutted and subject to a fire and metal theft. The buildings had remnants of the last users being William Sinclair horticulture so nothing left of its older past of engine manufacture etc. I nearly didnt bother to post this though i believe its the first time on here. One good thing i found out was the vast Ruston archive of photos paperwork etc etc has been salvaged and funding has been found so it can be viewed by the public.

The explore went very smoothly didnt see any security on site a peaceful wander around in a large space on a warm overcast day in June.

The site is up for sale so in time it well end up as housing no doubt, not a bad wander though may be reluctant to travel any great distance as it is a little bare in places. The lab and stores were also a let down still its one off the list.
