The huge Rustons factory in Lincoln was constructed in 1840 smack bang in the middle of Lincoln, and extended massively in the 1960s. The Lincoln factory used to manufacture gas turbine engines, and was apparently used in the production of army tanks for the Second World War but closed in 2009, after which W.M. Sinclair Horticulture took over the 1960s buildings to produce slug pellets and other gardening chemicals. This venture only lasted a few years and by 2012 the entire factory was empty.

The factory is very big and for the most part very empty - there are a few bits and pieces left inside but sadly no big machinery or anything - although I was pleasantly surprised by the lack of graffiti evident. There is probably a little more to see here as it was an end of day rushed affair with my friend who really doesn't like big empty industry the same way I do, but it was an enjoyable wander nonetheless.
