Quick visit to this old place with my friend a few weeks back.

Built back in 1806, looks like at one point it would have been a lovely place. Bought by the RBL in 1954, it was in use for over 50 years until it was disbanded in 2004, from what i believe was financial issues. History is very thin on the place so i've only really got info on what i've heard from people i know.

I'd seriously advise avoiding this place however, this is by far the most dangerous building i've been in. Very very unstable as you'll see.

Not a massive amount of photo's of the exterior sadly as me and my friend got spooked so left the place pretty sharpish, few decent ones of the interior bits you can access however.

Entrance, as you can see has been reclaimed by nature.

Upstairs, as you can see it seriously poor condition.

And the rest of the upstairs which has collapsed. Not a nice place.

This is Ryton House, back in the day a huge fete for the whole village used to be housed in the grounds circa 1940/50's.

You probably didn't see it but if you go down from the house to the two lakes on the side of the right-hand lake is a tiny swimming pool and changing rooms.

When I was a kid we used to build dens in the grounds, we always called it the Legion as the Royal British Legion bought it. For as far back as I can remember the place has always been ran down, even when it was open.

It was recently bought by the guy that owns the scrapyard on the A45. People have tried and failed to get planning permission but the building is listed.

The house at the top of the drive known as the Lodge was also part of the estate and the field opposite was a private vegetable garden once. I've had a look round the house a few times but never went in the cellar

Just been to have a look at this place me and my mates all felt very uneasy when entering and could hear whispering in the distance, any one know any history on the people that lived there, I’ve been trying to find some but can’t find much history on it at all

I went here at the weekend, seems they have recently put fences up all the way around, couldn’t find a way past it, was 11pm at night though and pitch black. Wondering if they have been put up since you went?

I'd just walk away and not even bother to be honest it was fucked back in 2017 when this was posted so could have only got worse since (if that's even possible) IMO it doesn't look worth the small amount of effort involved in climbing a fence. :turd
