Lead or Rumour info - Sandwell College to be flattened

I've just read in the Sandwell Chronicle that the College buildings are due to be demolished shortly because of the the vandalism and theft that is going on at the site. In my opinion the biggest act of vandalism would be the demolition. If anyone wants to take a look here it needs to be sooner rather than later.

The article didn't mention any dates but I'll keep my eyes open as I normally pass the site once a week or so on my way to work. If there are any signs of work commencing I'll post the info up.

I got as far as the boiler room then security asked us to leave. Shame because it's a beautiful building, I used to work there, the surveyors were there a few weeks ago. I was always told it was listed, espesially the building on the far left which was next to the music school

I think the older building next to the Music School isGrade 2 listed and is going to be refurbished and retained in any new development.

Thats the one in Oldbury ( thats flat)

theres the one in Smethwick the fancy one with glazed bricks

Theres one in West Brom town centre, tall building by the bank. Thats closed and semi boarded. I've just not found a way in yet. I was thinking it could be that one?

I can see them knocking down most of Smethwick, all the new stuff, and keep the older stuff.

Yeah, i almost went to college here, they'd then ship me to the new campus in westbrom. That was over a year ago enough now, they were emptying it then. I had my induction in a supply room as the offices and classrooms had been stripped.

I'm in Wednesbury so it's not that far to travel, I'd be up for exploring it with someone if anyone fancies a visit :). Would be my first proper exploration as a member of this site, too!
