Selly Oak Hospital was originally part of University Hospital Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust. It was closed in 2012 upon completion of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital 1.5 miles away, where everything was relocated to.
The site has gained planning permission for 650 new homes and is now in the process of being demolished.

The Explore
Firstly I apologize for the severe lack of photo quality, it doesn't really do the place much justice but we didn't have the natural daylight due to being there during the early hours of the morning. I did manage to get some nice sunrise shots though! :thumb
We did the out patients ward, x-ray, throat and ear, then finally the morgue.
The building had been stripped down so much, there were mainly just random bits of furniture scattered about, but it was definitely nice to see no graffiti for once.
We were shocked to see literally no sign of security, there was the odd dog threat but that was about it.
There wasn't much in the first part of the building that we were in, it was mostly just consultant rooms (and slow-closing doors that made a bang when we were least expecting it, very terrifying when it's pitch black).
Things got more interesting as we explored further, there was still some equipment left there and it looked like the place was left in a hurry. We spent around 2 hours in this area before heading to the morgue.

The morgue & demolition site

It was a shame to see that the buildings surrounding the morgue were being demolished but we were lucky to go there when we did because we managed to see most of what was left of it without any members of the demolition crew being there. This place was more graffed up which ruined the look of the building a little bit, I guess the entrance is a little more obvious so all the chavs managed to get in. We didn't explore much of the back buildings since the structure was unsafe but the view from the roof of the morgue was pretty cool.

Thanks to @oakleyframer for the access details! :D
