Oh shit, I was the one who reported on it previously and before the scaffolding went up, I had no idea it was still completely open and trashed. I understood the new owner was 'forced' to act on securing what is a listed building by Canterbury Council after a long legal wrangle. It's a real shame as when it was sold of as part of the Shepherd and Neame downsizing it was a lovely pub but obviously location was against it but was still very much a going venture.

Thanks for the link mate! Very interesting to get a bit more history on the place.

It is such a shame. I remember before it closed, was not a bad pub. Disappointing Shepard Neame decided it was not longer needed..

It's right next to a traveller site, which didn't help. The place was gutted within a few months of it closing.

P.S. Sending to a private message, hope that's okay.

It was secured pretty well with metal sheeting a few years back when they put the scaffold up and covered whats left of the roof. I guess with being so remote and no restoration work being done it was only a matter of time until the locals pulled it open again. It was pretty clean until the travellers moved in and set up bedrooms in there
