I'd had my eye on this one recently after being re-inspired by the reports from a couple of years ago, but the last time I checked it was sealed tight. Then after the reports started flooding in last weekend I decided I had to get in there before it was too late.
My exploring time has been very limited recently so I had to head out late one night for a mooch.
History seems hard to find on this one but from what I've shamelessly pinched from other reports it seems to have started out life as the town hall in the early 1800's.
It was repeatedly extended over the next 100 years, eventually becoming used as the Crown Court.
The Combined Court Centre, as it was most recently known, finally closed on Friday 27th October 1995 following the construction of new modern, and much larger (presumably because there are THAT many wrong 'uns in Sheffield), premises down the road.
Solo explore as usual but big thanks to Ojay.
...power's on!
Cheers
