Visited with Maverick. Thanks to Winchester for his early morning help!
Most of you know the history of Silverlands by now, but for those that dont...
Built in the early 1800's, this standalone building has been home to a multitude of resources including the residence of its dutch owner, an orphanage, nurses accomodation and part of St. Peter's hospital. Infamously, it became the proposed location of the Wolvercote paedophile clinic, which was previously in Epsom.
In 2002 after a £2million facelift, the decor of which seems sickeningly grand for its proposed occupants, the local residents won their campaign to stop the perverts moving in. The Government shut down the plans and with the building virtually completed - it was left to rot.
Never been used since its renovation, the building remains in a strange state of uncertainty - its brand new, yet its been uninhabited for 5 years and nature has finally begun to take its toll...
View from the courtyard
Underground access tunnels...
...which eventually lead outside, but below ground level
External skylight
The grand lobby - never used
Ornate skylight and lantern
Spotless corridors
Nature taking over
Looking up the lift shaft
One of the elaborate chandeliers on show
Maverick in action
Double vision
Extensive water damage in this room
Solitary chair
Unfinished room
