Great report on a facinating site. I work in industrial heritage and have always been interested in surviving old hydraulic power machinery. Seen quite a bit over the years, though not very much left now which is accessible.
Im attaching pics showing similar machinery which is complete ,which may be of interest which I took off of net.

Thanks for sharing and recording!

What's the first one - a moving bridge mechanism?
I recognise the other photos since I took them...

Lol, sorry to steal your pics, they are good though. Yes typical railway swing bridge hydraulic engines. Theres a bridge surviving over the River Ouse which I saw but machinery had been ripped out. My pics....

Thanks for sending me this. Some really good surviving hydraulic equipment there, complete and with control gear. I have never yet found a hydraulic water meter in situ so thats quite a discovery! I've seen quite a lot of hydraulic machinery in London over the years and have been involved with rescuing and restoring some for preservation. Pics of me with ones at Clink St Vaults, Millwall and East India Docks and Nelson Drydock taken years ago. Have others too somewhere.

Apart from the derelict pumping station in Hull i'm not aware of anything there.

Ooh, thanks, some lovely ones.

I wasn't sure how much there was left in the London docks, having never looked, although there's an interesting article here: Tim Smith (1991) Hydraulic Power in the Port of London, Industrial Archaeology Review, 14:1, 64-88, DOI: 10.1179/iar.1991.14.1.64
