This is probably the explore that I am most proud of, I spent a good few nights over the last 6 months looking into the site. Slightly disappointed as the control room has recently been sealed so I didn't manage to do the whole building. However I did manage to cover the rest, including a huge amount of relays.
Some Info & History.
The signal box with its Westinghouse Brake & Signal Co. Ltd. Style 'L' Power Lever Frame was opened and commissioned in 1940 by the London Midland and Scottish Railway, as part of the resignalling scheme for the region. It was built to a Non Standard ARP design and was fitted with a 227 lever Westinghouse 'L' frame, It worked in conjunction with its Sister Signal box a few miles away, with its 214 levers to control the local area. The box was reduced to a non block post in mid 1985 during the major renewals at a near station. The signalbox remained in use for 48 years until its operation was take over by a new Signalling Centre on in June 1985.
Cheers For Looking,
I will add just for any officials looking, I never once ventured onto the tracks.
