Im sure everyones heard the history of this place, couldn't wait to get in! security aren't too heavy, but the distant sound of aggressive sounding dogs was slightly off putting - and if you happen to bump into a guard they're not the nicest. a section of the park has been taken over by travelers and converted into thier own mini amusement park - very surreal. we in fact simply walked into the old part, but they must expect this because it wasnt long before we got stopped. after being forced to delete some of our photo's we scaled the perimeter and found some other easy access points. wish i'd have had more time there, will definitely be going back to explore it fully one day.

The entertainment park was opened in 1969 as Kulturpark Plänterwald, covering an area of 29.5 hectares. The area is situated in the north of the Plänterwald, next to the river Spree. In August 2002 the park was declared completely insolvent. Debts at a level of €11,000,000 remained and the area was allowed to fall into disrepair. Norbert Witte failed in his attempt to run a "Lunapark" in Lima. On 19 May 2004 he was sentenced to seven years in jail for attempting to smuggle 180 kg of cocaine with a value of £14 million from Peru to Germany in the masts of the Fliegender Teppich (Flying Carpet) ride.[3] In October 2006 a Peruvian court sentenced Wittes' son, Marcel Witte, to 20 years for drug smuggling.

the man cant get enough of coke and coasters!
