Spring Quarry, A brief encounter ;)

We were simply passing through on this occasion, hence the lack of photos, but thought I would post them anyway

Some History
(Although been covered many times before)

Spring is a large stone quarry converted by the Minsistry of Aircraft production in WW2

The quarry was home to the largest underground factory in the world, also home to the Bristol Aerospace Company and a BSA's gun barrel factory situated to the West

The factory closed in 1945 after the Second World War, leaving a bill of over £20M

It was since used by the Ministry of Supplies who used most of the site for Royal Navy stores until the early 90's

The Northern area of Spring was chosen as the wartime seat of power in case of a nuclear war

We'll be back... ;)
