SPRINGWELL LEEDS ACADEMY
- Leeds, England
- June 2020
HISTORY
Springwell Leeds is an educational facility part of the Springwell School group. They were established in September 2016, and originally had 6 sites which served the whole of Leeds. They specialise in the education of children and young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs between the ages of 5 and 16.
In November 2017, a road accident opposite the school resulted in the tragic deaths of five people, two of them students of Springwell Leeds.
Newer facilities in Leeds North and Leeds South were constructed in 2017, and the site closed in early 2018, with the last day for students and faculty being Tuesday 27th March 2018. All students were relocated to either Leeds North or Leeds South depending on their preferred location.
Since its closure, the site has become badly trashed and vandalised.
EXPLORE
A quick little explore on a collab day. Thankfully i wasn't on my own, as when we entered the site there was about 20 kids inside messing about. To be fair, they were really sound with me and quite chatty.
Ignoring them, I managed to get around most of the former school. There was still classwork laying around and other signs showing its former life. The gymnasium was probably the coolest part. Certain areas of the school have been set on fire, and its severely trashed and vandalised with graffiti.
Thanks for looking.
Be quick with this one ;-)
