Working nightshift away from home leads to a lot of bored days sitting about hotel rooms, so this time I decide I would try to get a wee explore in while I was away, a few hours looking about Google and Google Maps and I came up with this little beauty.

Sronlairig Lodge is a large shooting lodge at the head of Loch Killin, and the drive up to it through the Glen and along the loch side is worth a trip in itself. The riverside elevation features a 2 storey Arts and Crafts timber balcony, flanked by an octangonal tower to the right. The house dates from around 1910 and is said to have been given to Lord Lovat on his safe return from the South African War. Much of the interior is pretty much gone and some parts look to have been used to keep sheep in! The stairs to the upper floors have been removed but it looks as if you may be able to access if you climb up the rubble and rubbish that have been left, but seeing as I was flying solo this time I decided to leave that for another day. I also manage to have my first "civilian" encounter on this trip, one of the local estate workers, but once he seen the camera gear he simply asked if I was getting some good shots. All in all a good wee day out for my first solo explore.
