First post in a while - got a bit of a back log and some catching up to do!
Third time lucky for this one, but unfortunately didn't have as much time to spend here as I'd have liked. I know that there is more to see so a return visit will be on the cards for some point. On previous occasions the site had been a hive of activity but thankfully this time round it was pretty deserted which made for a straightforward morning.
The hospital is in varying states of decay. Some parts are clearly suffering from water ingress and rot, and other parts are still holding up pretty well.
What used to be the very large mirror near the main entrance, now sadly smashed
Inside the clock tower
Peely Paint Goodness
Missing Floors
Many corridor junctions and doorways were filled with these home made barricades
Kitchens

Cheers, Krypton

St Brigid's opened as the Connaught District Lunatic Asylum in 1833, and at it's peak in the 1950's was home to more than 2000 patients. The hospital is built in an X shape - with ward corridors radiating from the centre. There are also many outbuildings in the grounds including two chapels. From the 1980's the hospital went into a period of decline before finally closing in 2013
