Fitst time visiting here I absolutely loved the atmosphere!

St Crispins was established in 1876 known as the “Berrywood asylum” home to adults and children with mental illness that didn’t know any better, during the First World War it was also handed to the military in which the injured would be treated here, after that it carried on as it was as a Lunatic Asylum until closure in 1995 .also apparently the hospital was used for filming in the 1977 series Doctorwho!

good bunch of photos but this needs two things added to it
1. the date of visit (PLACE - LOCATION - DATE)
2. some history on the place would help, here is one from another report on the place
t Crispins Hospital (or the Berrywood Asylum as it was formerly known) opened up back in 1876, closing in 1995. during its life it mainly served as a mental institute, during WW1, the hospital was turned over to the military and used to treat injured soldiers. after the war it was returned to being a mental institute until its closure after the changes to the Mental Health Act went through in 1995. :thumb:thumb

I popped in here at the weekend after a shitty day of fails. Did you go up the clock tower? That was my plan but I ended up stuck in one of the buildings watching the thunder and lightning directly above for a while. I did get one good pic after the rain had passed
