A small bit of history from here... http://www.ticcihcongress2006.net/paper/Paper A/Pierrot_paper.pdf

"In 1930, Nicolini and the engineers of the SEP designed a 400 megawatt power station. The first phase (150 megawatts) was built between 1931 and 1933. The fifth and final phase was completed twenty years later in 1953... What remains of Saint Denis II ? Almost all of the buildings, but very little of the equipment. The conveyor belt has disappeared. The coal silos have been filled in. But the crushing tower (40m) reminds us that it was coal that fuelled this station. Nine Babcock and Wilcox boilers have been dismantled. All that is left of the boiler room is an impressive structure made of reinforced concrete. The metallic chimneys (Prat system) have disappeared. The pump room, to the east of the machinery room, is now empty. Most importantly, this 230 meter long turbine hall of reinforced concrete, with a riveted metal framework... still houses three Jeumont and Alsthom turbines out of the original five, two at 50 000 kilowatts and one at 60 000 kilowatts; a monumental staircase made of limestone; the water tunnels of the pump station for cooling down the turbines and its travelling crane. And finally, the control room."

"In 2003, the film director and producer Luc Besson – famous for films such as Le Grand Bleu and Le Cinquième Elément – caused quite a stir when he announced his intention to purchase and reconvert the coalfired power station known as Saint Denis II in Saint Denis, a suburb bordering Paris to the north. The powerhouse, dismantled in 1986, and its 6.5 hectare site, have since been designated as the future home to the “Cité européenne du cinéma,” ... Although construction has not yet begun, Luc Besson’s company, Europacorp, has purchased the site and received the building permit. The project’s completion is anticipated for 2009."

It took a while to work out a way in...
