I think this must be a rare survivor for it's age. Built as a TB hospital it retains many of it's original features The walls are basically split into barn doors, which can have the top opened for air or be opened fully to allow the beds to be wheeled into the open. The buildings construction is of wood, I believe to allow the whole thing to be burned to the ground in the event of an epidemic.
Inside certainly feels very airy and light, added to by the beautiful summers day I picked to visit.
It looks as though it has been used as a stores over the past few years, but other medical items remain from leg straightening procedures which were carried out here. The invalid chair is one of the best single items I have ever seen in a hospital...
