History

The school was constructed in 1964 and was subsequently added to over the years with additional buildings, in 2011 St Peter's School merged with the nearby Berry Hill High School and management was passed from the local council to an Academy Trust. The two schools remained open until 2013 when both sites closed and relocated to a new £22 million building in Fenton. The St Peter's site was also briefly used by a local primary school after asbestos was discovered in their current building.

The Explore

Ive been wanting to do ST Peters for a while now.

So last month we took a trip up to the midlands and finally got around to doing it.

Getting on to the site proved a little more difficult than expected and while walking up and down the road we drew the attention of some old lady staring us down.

I honestly thought she was going to call the police as maybe she thought we were burglars or something as were both wearing dark clothes and trousers on the hottest weekend of the year!

So we got out skates on and figured a route on to site..

Now to get inside the school, unsure whether there was any security there we took a steathly approach around the buildings and headed for the entrance which again was a bit tricky as most of the place is boarded up.

Once we found a way in it became clear that the place had been wrecked, the corridors & class rooms resembled a war zone, but the bight colourful murals on the walls definitely made up for the destruction.

The colourful murals continued through the school, and once we made our way further through the school it started to look a little less trashed with more redeeming features like the Huge hall with old medals scattered around and last but not least the very artistic sports hall.

Although ST peters is a lot newer than the other schools currently on the urbex trail ( Maltby & Heanor ) it certainly didn't disappoint.
