Sooooo after a mad day of exploring with my boyfriend in Chertsey, we went to this mortuary after hearing that a few people had been getting in recently! It is so overgrown I almost missed it! It actually just looked like one of the surrounding bushes. This very decayed and vandalised mortuary was built in the 1940’s. It is a smallish rectangular building on the outskirts of the main St Peter’s Hospital site. I wouldn’t say it’s a small mortuary as such, in fact it was a pretty nice size explore. It’s just small on Google Maps.... Anyway..... It closed in April 2009 because the mortuary got relocated to the main hospital building. Inside the mortuary I could tell there was a small chapel, it was the first room we entered. Access was annoying.... We had to pile up cement blocks and tree stumps just so we could slide through a window. We literally had to jump up onto the window ledge, slide through The floor window on our stomaches - bearing in my mind the window frame has sharp glass on. The window ledge had thread like shards of glass everywhere. My boyfriend actually got cut by glass and had to pull a thread like piece of glass out his finger.... We then slid onto the chapel table which was very wobbly. To then jump off of this wobbly table that kept nearly falling over! Getting out was just way easier which was a relief.... I was so excited to see the autopsy room as I’ve seen it so much online before. The mortuary also has a viewing room with the rest of the building comprising of body fridges and the main autopsy room.... I really enjoyed this explore! Sadly it is in a sorry state to say the least. It very clear it’s a site for the locals to just trash which is heartbreaking. This is my first ever mortuary explore! I have seen morgues inside abandoned hospitals before but never anything like this! Another one ticked off the list! A very nice short, interesting explore nonetheless!
