A BRIEF HISTORY
Set in the grounds of Standon Hall which was built circa 1910, Standon Hall was originally a family home before later becoming a hospital.
the beeches are outbuildings which formed part of the hospital and were more recently used as a Care Home which closed its doors in 2016.
THE EXPLORE
So after seeing this pop up a while back we found our self's in the area just before Dorris and his chums announced lockdown 3.0!.
We arrived early on a weekend morning not sure what to expect as had seen the alleged owners on here preaching to stay away!.
So we preceded with caution with a stealth like approach.
As we got closer we saw what looked like a security hut with a light on, however on closer inspection this turned out to be just a construction unit with an outside light on.
Having looked all round the site including the actual Hall we knew we were alone so we decided to have a look at the main hall. A quick peek through a door and just bare plaster walls so probably wasn't worth doing plus the whole building was covered in scaffolding confirming work was under way to convert it.
Anyway access in to the old Care Home was a walk in the park with the hardest part of this explore finding somewhere to leave the dam car!.
Once inside the Care Home i was sadly very underwhelmed, as looked a lot different from last summer and wasn't really a lot to see except a few empty bedrooms full of empty beds.
The corridors were probably the best features with parts slowly being taken back by nature!.
All in all it wasn't the best but certainly not the worst explore Ive done.
