Intro

Boomstick84 spotted these and we decided to give it a go. They're really easy to do and definitely something quite different. Managed to get inside and have a wander about as well. Really interesting slice of Industry! The dock cranes are clearly unused now and only pigeons frequent them.

Had a little wander up here with Stewie and Boomstick after annoying residents in a few local blocks. :D
Had cans, watched drunk people, went home.

History

Oddly enough there isn't any individual history on these cranes, neither can I find any model of any sort so if anyone can help or I find something in the mean time Ill surely add it in. So:

Who are Stothert and Pitt?

Stothert and Pitt were a British engineering company founded in 1785 in Bath, England. They were the builders of a variety of engineering products ranging from Dock Cranes to construction plant and household Cast iron items. They went out of business in 1989. The name and intellectual property became part of Clarke Chapman.

Jibbbb, No I didn't, wanted to soooo bad but some drunk Russians were kinda just staring at us...

...So we got down, only to meet them at the bottom and they were pretty excited about climbing it themselves without any sort of stealth, so we got to a safe distance and watched, which was pretty fun really.

Nice. Cheers for getting a report up mate, I'm far too lazy these days!

Quite liked these. Like you say, a nice little bit of old industry in an otherwise corporate and sanitised part of London. Nice to see a fair few of these dock cranes have been retained around the wharf area.

Watching the super happy, pissed up Russians go clambering up after us was also good entertainment :D

Last time I was photographing these the police arrived looking for somebody they'd had reports looked like he was going to jump off the bridge. Didn't seem like the right time to attempt a climb!

Nicely done :thumb
